Where are the Classes Held?

All classes are held at The Imperial ,Hamilton Terrace, Milford Haven, Pembs.
This venue is a plush luxurious place to have your lesson in. We have 3 poles, lights, music and a stage so you can get the true and glamerous Pole Dancing experience with each and every lesson.

We have 3 Poles; a 45mm Chrome Pole so those with small hands and light grip will find pole dancing easy with Defy Gravity. We also have a 50mm Chrome Pole, which is the competition standard size for those wishing to enter Pole Competitions. And finally our Titanium Gold 50mm Pole which has a more powerful `dryer` feel to it, is grippier, and will take the sting out of your Pole Tricks.

Who attends Pole Dance classes?
Everyone! Quite simply. As long as you are over 18 you can attend a class.

Why do I have to be over 18?
As pole dance can be quite strenuous on the joints and muscles a fully developed body is essential.

Do I have to join a group class?
You do not have to learn Poledance with strangers, Individual Classes are available. Also you can join with up tp 5 of your freinds.

Can men learn with Defy Gravity?
Even men can use a class to build upper body strength, tone abs, back and increase stamina.

Am I too old for Pole Dancing?
Pole dance classes are not solely for the 20-something crowd, most of my students are between 30 and 40, with my eldest student being 64! Im 31 and intend to be Pole Dancing in my 70`s!

Do you need to be thin and already strong to do this?
Its a fallacy that one has to be already strong or a size 8 to come to a Pole Dance class. People of all ages and sizes attend classes and have success. Learning Pole Dance is what will get you very toned and very strong, in a very short space of time.

What should I wear?
You need to be able to complete the warm up session, grip the pole, have freedom of movement and feel comfortable. You will need bare arms and legs to be able to grip the pole effectively, an ideal outfit would be t-shirt, or top and shorts, but you can wear jogging trousers if you wish to. No jewellery to be worn. Once the warm up is complete you can put on your favourite heels for the dance part of the class.

IMPORTANT: Do not use moisturisers or lotions on the body before class, as this causes your skin, and my pole, to become dangerously slippery. If you are found to have moisterised skin your class will have to be re-arranged.

What are the exercise benefits
Pole dancing is a lot more strenuous than it looks, a good session on the pole can burn more calories than a good session in the gym, and will certainly provide more muscle tone.
Defy Gravity warm ups and cool downs enable you to increase your flexability so you will be able to do the splitzs with ease!
Learning to take your feet off the floor and hold yourself up with your Abs and Biceps/Triceps. Gripping with your legs and lifting yourself up using your Quads will definitely give you that Pole Dancer body!
Once we put the spins and tricks together into a routine that’s where the Cardio aspect of Pole Dancing truly takes an effect.
