Welcome, my name is Jamie Alexah-Taylor, and I will put my: 
*2 years Performing Arts study 
*7 years experience as a Performance Pole and Podium Dancer 
*5 years Teaching experience together to make sure you get the best out of each and every lesson with me.

Here at Defy Gravity you can learn the true `Art of Pole Dancing`. An acrobatic, gymnastic, graceful and confidence boosting skill, which will give you so much more for your money that your average fitness class ever will!
Poledancing is apparently the only sport, apart from Swimming, that uses more than one muscle group at the same time!
Plus, its the only work out where you are not only allowed, but encouraged to have a laugh and be a bit saucy!

Classes (individual or group) we have for you, are:

Bronze.............................. Beginner
Silver................................ Intermediate
Gold.................................. Advanced

One to One Lessons

This is the most popular type of lesson and the kind that that students seem to prefer. Learn to Pole Dance in privacy, at The Imperial for the ultimate Pole Dance experience. Students find these lessons are a great way to use the pole to unwind after a hard day, or to take your aggression out on while having a rant or a gossip whilst getting fit.

Group Classes 

The maximum number of students that can take a group lesson is 6, as we have 3 poles at The Imperial, so you can bring your friends if you wish. 

Individual Taster sessions

I offer a taster session for those of you who don’t want to commit to a Pole Dance class with out trying it out by themselves first.

Bronze Level (Beginner, Level 1)

This is a low impact Pole Dance class for everyone. Focusing on wiggles, giggles, slinky pole moves, sensual walks and Floorwork. You will learn how to use a pole to look your most glamorous with minimal effort. 
Level 1 warm-up and cool-downs will also bring on your upper body stregnth and palm grip to ready you for Level 2.

Bronze (Beginner,Level 2)

During this course you will learn up to 12 spins, be able to distinguish between 3 different hand- grips, and up to 10 different transitions so you can gracefully link each spin together. 
Bronze level is perfect for and strengthening your arms, back and shoulders, whilst toning your tummy and hips.

Silver Level (Intermediate,Level 1)

During this course we will cover One Handed Spins, Reverse Spins and Corkscrews. Tricks covered include cross knee releases, thigh holds, Pole Climbs and Pole Sits. Linking this all together with super hot dance moves and floorwork to create a powerful routine.
Silver Level warm-up and cool-downs are designed to increase your flexability and core stregnth.

Silver Level (Intermediate,Level 2)

The second half of the course involves `tummy to pole inverts`. Yes, its time to go upside down girls!! All the tricks that make you say `Wow!` will be learned now.
Silver level is perfect for the ultimate in abdominal strength, whilst thigh hold poses shape the legs and bum.

Gold Level (Advanced Level 1)

By now you should be well on your way to maximum stregnth ,flexibility and toning.
We will also work on improving your endurance so you will be able to fluently link the tricks you have learned together without having to step onto the ground between each one.

Gold (Advanced, Level 2)
During this course we will work on more strenuous tricks and power poses. We are constantly up-dating our catalog to keep up with the latest Transitions, Tricks and Spins, therefor this level is never the same twice and tends to be on-going.
